Amazon is currently rolling out an update to the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K that adds support for Miracast. This makes it possible to mirror the image of a mobile device on the TV to which the TV stick is connected.
Fire TV Stick gets Miracast
Amazon has started rolling out an update for the Fire TV Stick 4K. These concerns update 6.2.6.3 which, among other things, adds support for Miracast. This makes it possible to mirror screens from compatible devices such as telephones, tablets and computers. This is done wirelessly, so you don’t have to bother with anything further. The feature was previously available on older Fire TV Stick models but was removed with the introduction of Fire OS 6. This is the first time it can be used on modern Amazon hardware.
Although this is, of course, good news, the support for Miracast seems to be slowly disappearing. For example, Apple has never supported the standard and Google has also obtained native support from Android since the release of Android 9.0 Pie . Usually Windows computers with Windows 8 or Windows 10 still support Miracast. The same applies to older Android devices, so it can still be used. Apple users nowadays have AirPlay and Google users have Cast.
